I earned my stripes as a qualitative researcher in the Netherlands and Australia, where I worked for a number of insight and strategy agencies

In 2012 I set up UK consultancy Firefish’s Amsterdam office. In 2017 I decided that flying solo was the way forward

Alongside SemioCentral I also run my own little insight agency: sputnik foresight

I get particularly excited about ‘the complex’s stuff’, such as brand strategy and innovation, with qualitative research and Semiotics as my weapons of choice

Rob Drent

With over 25 years of qualitative expertise and a deep understanding of human and cultural insights, I help brands find their opportunities in the world to stand out meaningfully.

After leading the qualitative insights & innovation department at Research International, I started my own business in 2007. Working with both Dutch and international clients, I use qualitative research, semiotics, concept writing and storytelling, to help them to create narratives that bring brands' visions and missions to life.

I am passionate about uncovering 'the meaning behind it all'. With a relentless curiosity, I explore popular culture as a canvas, painting a clear picture of the consumer world in which brands can thrive.
